Pakistan And Information Technology

The concept of Pakistan as an under develop uneducated and rigid country with lot of terrorism is absolutely wrong.  A survey showed that Pakistan has the 27th position of Internet users in the world.
According to Wikipedia
“Government aims to increase productivity in the public sector, improve the standards of IT infrastructure in the country and use it as a management tool for the promotion of good governance in general.”
Pakistan has a National IT policy and the Government of Pakistan has a focus on the technology development in public sector. The government aims to increase productivity in the public sector, improve the standards of IT infrastructure in the country and use it as a management tool for the promotion of good governance in general.
Software development is a fast growing industry of Pakistan and many of Government departments also fully computerized like NADRA (National Data Base Regulation Authority) which issues National ID card passport etc. Pakistan is developing new image by adopting the standards of IT like CMMI and ISO.

Locally made software are using in supermarkets hospitals schools and in hospitals. For international clients Pakistan is also a very good place as high talent is avail at very reasonable cost. Many International companies have their off shore offices in Pakistan and get maximum results. I.T parks and I.T villages are promoted by the Government of Pakistan not in ordinary manner but with an aim to meet the international standards of I.T

CMMI and Pakistani IT Industry

Pakistan faced a lot of damages due to terrorism and instability of the Government body especially in the field of I.T. Many among talented youth moved abroad due to non-facilitate environment. The survival industries including I.T are unable to meet the required results. Repeated study has confirmed that due to lake of proper process a vendor's ability to complete developmental projects within a specified budget and timeframe effects.

At national level PSEB had “Standardization of Pakistani IT industry on CMMI" project. The objective of running this project was to initiate CMMI activities in Pakistan, and create a base for CMMI implementation at the mass level.

CCMI is Capability Maturity Model.
It is the set of standards which companies have to follow for improving their work performance. These are a collection of best practices for the development and maintenance of both products and services.
CMMI1 Company is less standardized as compared to CMMI 5.
Here are 5 CMMI levels

CMMI1. Initial,

CMMI2. Managed,

CMMI3. Defined,

CMMI4. Quantitatively Managed,

CMMI5. Optimizing.

The first step to attain any CMMI Level is to create a Quality Management System (QMS). QMS is basically a set of documents which contains the details about the process and procedures that happens in your company.

There are few companies which provides pre-assessment or “Appraisal” to meet the criteria of CMMI.NET4U is also a pleasant addition for appraisal with the aim to uplift your process to the successful height.

why ISO/IEC 27001 is important?

ISO/IEC 27001 provides a management framework for assessing and treating risks. With the growth of network and the use of mobile apps hackers are also very active and only technology cannot overcome the risk of leaking data but management solution is also needed to improve the business process.

It is important for the companies to stay ahead in cyber security. According to the ISO,

"ISO/IEC 27001 is the best-known standard in the family providing requirements for an information security management system (ISMS).".

Difference Between CMMI Assessment and Appraisal

CMMI is a standard which  provides guidance for efficient, effective improvement across multiple process disciplines in an organization.
It benefits the organization by providing a common, integrated vision of improvement. The ultimate benefit is improved performance
An appraisal is an activity that helps you to identify strengths and weaknesses of your organization’s processes and to examine how closely the processes relate to CMMI.
sometimes people confused in terms of "Appraisal", and "Pre-Assessment". The SEI distinguish it in these words...

"An appraisal only evaluates a process where as an assessment is an appraisal done for the sake of process improvement. "

The Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) is the official CMMI (and People CMM) appraisal method used to evaluate organizations’ processes and provide ratings.

Net4u provides pre-assessment or appraisal in Pakistan.

WHY CMMI is necessary for Pakistani IT Industry

Software Process Improvement is a set of activities that leads to a better software process, and ensures the design and development of quality software in a timely manner.
Pakistan has a grate potential in the field of IT but unfortunately only a quarter of total companies meet their objectives. this surprising thing leaded to the root cause and the problem gave its hand to the researchers with the result of not according to the international standards.
a company may run fast with a good team work but the growth with new clients is something beyond. it all depends on a systematic method and the most tested process model framework developed by SEI (Software Engineering Institute) USA for deployment in software and systems Engineering organisations.
The deployment of CMMI model has resulted in measurable improvements in quality of processes and products (including services) and increased client satisfaction for the organisations.

The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) is also a model-based software process improvement approach. The primary aim of CMMI is continuous process improvement, from the individual task level to the corporate level.

Pakistani software companies are facing a lot of problems to attain a good level of CMMI.
